BMW unveiled a futuristic concept car called BMW i Vision Dee that has a digital interpretation to display different facial expressions. Some people think it was inspired by the animated film Cars.

At the Consumer Electronics Show or CES 2023 in Las Vegas, BMW made a surprise appearance by bringing a futuristic concept car called the BMW i Vision Dee.

Launching gizmochina.com, Friday (6/1/2022), "Dee" itself is an acronym for Digital Emotional Experience, which means it can give the impression of human personality to the car. BMW i Vision Dee is designed to have self-awareness and the ability to communicate with its passengers.

Can Change Colour

Not only does it have emotional properties, the vehicle is claimed to be able to change colour with e-ink exterior technology, which allows it to change up to 32 colours.

However, this is nothing new for BMW as at CES last year, the company had revealed the iX Flow with the same capability.

Interestingly, the car has a digital interpretation that can display different facial expressions following human nature. These expressions can include looks of astonishment, visual approval, and more. The main highlight of this car is its very human virtual assistant, or "Dee" as it is called.

Unlike other digital assistants such as Alexa or Siri, the BMW i Vision Dee is a fairly sassy and cheerful assistant with a personality. It is meant to form an even better and closer relationship between man and machine.

BMW i Vision Dee has personality and can be a good companion

"With BMW i Vision Dee, the company shows how a car can be seamlessly integrated into your digital life and become a good and trustworthy companion," said head of BMW Group Design Adrian van Hooydonk.

Meanwhile, the BMW Group globally is reported to have sold 2.1 million vehicles throughout 2022, a figure that is down by around 100,000 vehicles compared to the previous year.

Despite the global decline in car sales, BMW has doubled its electric car sales from the previous year. It contributed almost 10 per cent of total sales.
