How to Take Care of Your Car Tires to Make Them Last Longer

Car tires are an essential part of any vehicle, as they enable it to travel thousands of kilometers. However, frequent use can result in rapid tire wear and tear. As a car owner, it's crucial to know when to replace your tires as driving on worn-out tires can be dangerous.

How to Take Care of Your Car Tires to Make Them Last Longer

During our visit to Karawang with OtoDriver to test the performance of GT Radial tires, we received information on how to take care of your tires properly. There are six easy-to-follow steps to ensure your tires last longer. Check out the six tips for taking care of your car tires as recommended by GT Radial:

Choose the right tire type and size

It's important to choose the right tire type and size that suits your driving style. Make sure the tires you're using are suitable for your vehicle's recommended tire size and index.

Tire pressure

Check your tire pressure at least once a month. Insufficient tire pressure is dangerous as it can cause fatal damage to your tires. Overinflated tires can cause uneven wear and tear, affecting the handling and braking of your vehicle.

Rotation

Tire rotation is necessary to prevent uneven wear and tear and extend the lifespan of your tires. It's recommended to rotate your tires every 7,500-10,000 km.

Balancing

Tire balancing is necessary to prevent shaking and vibration while driving and uneven wear and tear. Balancing should be done when fitting new tires, rotating tires, or if there's vibration when driving at certain speeds.

Wheel alignment

Your vehicle needs regular wheel alignment to ensure safety and comfort while driving. Wheel alignment should be done every time you rotate your tires or if you notice any symptoms like the vehicle pulling to the right or left while driving, or uneven tire wear.

Tire replacement

The Tread Wear Indicator (TWI) is located in the tire tread groove. If the tread has reached the TWI level, it's time to replace your tires. The TWI is indicated by a triangular symbol on the sidewall of the tire.

By following these six easy tips, you can keep your car tires in top condition and make them last longer. Remember, properly maintained tires not only ensure safety while driving but also save you money in the long run.
